Episode 131 - The Pentecost Texts (Part 1)
Episode Summary
It is derivative of the prophetic Book of Joel and Acts 2. The 1st part covers Joel. In that prophecy, Israel is in focus. At first, Israel is subject to a scathing oracle outlining its considerable violation of the covenant. Yet, because Israel repented and rededicated to keeping God’s covenant, the Lord decides to restore Israel. Part of that restoration will involve every last Israelite having access to God’s spirit. Before this time, only special people had access to God’s spirit: prophets, priests, sages, and kings. Soon, everyone will have access. But this prophecy pertains to Israel alone. The question to be asked is: Did the writer of the Book of Acts misuse this prophecy from Joel. That question will be treated in next week’s podcast.
